CONGRATULATIONS to the Scarborough Basketball Association (SBA) Lady Blues - U14 team who made history in Orlando, Florida (June 25th - to July 5th) and became the first Non-American team (in 25 years of this National Championship) to ever win the Youth Basketball Of America (YBOA) title!
The SBA Lady Blues went 4-0 and finished first in their pool in the round robin games; defeating teams from Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Texas.  They then entered the playoffs ranked as the #1 team in both pools having scored the most points and given up the least of the 10 teams in Division 1.   The girls ended the tournament with a perfect record of 7-0 and completed their journey with a convincing Championship win over a team from Baton Rouge! Teams that participated in the National Championship were from: Florida, Texas, Nevada, Arkansas and even as far as New Zealand!
After speaking with Coach Brian, he had one thing to say "It's still pretty surreal that we actually are the National Champions of this prestigious American tournament... but there is no doubt that the girls played hard and I'm extremely proud of every single one of them!"

A special shout out goes to Keishanna Washington who was named "MVP" of the Championship, Brianna Breedy & Kylee-Ann O'Hara who was named as "All Stars" and Sabree Thomas who was named "Most Hustle".

I'm sure I can speak for everyone who knows these young ladies, that we are definitely PROUD of all of them, and most of all PROUD of the way they demonstrate GREAT character and sportsmanship on and off the court!

Way to represent Canada and girls basketball overall!!
